Education Director/ PreK 4-year old teacher
Helene started teaching at Prince of Peace Preschool in September 2004. She is presently the Education Director and Teacher of the Pre-K 4 year old class. Helene has a BA in psychology from Douglas College at Rutgers University, a NJ Elementary Education teaching certificate and is a certified Music Together teaching specialist. She has previously taught 5th grade in Old Tappan and worked as a Branch Director for the YMCA in Massachusetts. Helene is a member of Prince of Peace Church. She also teaches Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and works with RVPEC, an organization in River Vale that supports parents of exceptional children. Helene serves on the Board of Directors for Camp Ma-He-Tu, a Lutheran Girls Camp located in Bear Mtn., NY
She is the Family Manager of her household that includes her husband Jim, college students Connor and Erik, and a border collie rescue dog named Lucy.
Kim started teaching at Prince of Peace in the fall of 2004. She is presently the Director along with Helene Welsing and is responsible for the daily running of the school. Kim has a Child Development Associates credential from the Council for Professional Recognition.
In addition to being a teacher, Kim is the wife of Anthony and the mother of 2 college aged men. She has 3 rescue dogs who she treats like her children and fosters puppies for Animal Rescues R us. Kim volunteers her time at Neighborhood Pantry, a food pantry dedicated to serving the needs of the food insecure. She also serves as a Merit Badge councilor for the Boy Scouts of America. In her leisure time, Kim is an avid reader, member of the Social Action ministry at Prince of Peace, and a Prince of Peace Council member.
Mrs. Pallatta brings almost 40 years of business and management experience to the school. Before coming to Prince of Peace, Mrs. Pallatta served as the manager of Internal Audit at Verizon Corp. She currently serves as the parish administrator of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
In her spare time Denise is active with the Hillsdale food pantry. She enjoys spending time with friends family and her two dogs. She also enjoys spending weekends in her Vermont and Florida vacation retreats.
Teacher: Playmates Program for 2’s and their Grown-ups and Stepping Stones co-teacher
Jennifer has been married for 28 years to John and has three boys, John Jr. (25 years old), Christopher (21 years old) and Patrick (17 years old). She was a stay at home until 2009 when she joined the Prince of Peace family. While she stayed at home, she not only helped out in her boys schools as a volunteer but was active with the Cub Scouts. She started approximately 19 years ago as a Cub Scout Leader with her oldest son and simultaneously became the Committee Chairman of Pack 88 which she still does today. Now that her boys are older, Jennifer is also involved in the Boy Scouts. Jennifer is a graduate of Pace University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and a Master’s Degree in Education from Iona College Rockland Campus.
She is teaching the Playmates Program for 2’s and their grown-ups and is co-teaching the Stepping Stones class. Jennifer loves spending time with her family and her black lab Lacey. Jennifer loves working and teaching children. She enjoys interacting with her students by building and creating with blocks and using imagination during play. During her down time she enjoys the beach and going to Disney World with her family.
Tracey has 10 years corporate business experience before starting with Prince of Peace. She is currently the co-teacher of the Stepping Stones program. She served on the River Vale PTA Executive Board as Corresponding Secretary for 4 years in addition to having been a class mom, volunteer and chairperson of various committees. She has taught CCD for a variety of ages. In addition, Tracey and her children have been volunteers for Prince of Peace Vacation Bible School and currently Tracey and her family volunteer with the year round Navigators sports program for special needs children. Tracey is happily married and has 2 teenage children (Brian and Allison), and their dog Harry. In her free time, she enjoys reading and gardening.
Laura Herdling has been a substitute teacher at Prince of Peace for 3 years and an assistant teacher for 4 years. She has 15 years corporate experience in accounting, office management and human resources. Laura has been a member of the River Vale PTA for 10 years, volunteering for book fairs, library aide, and holiday boutique. Also, volunteered as class mom for several years planning classroom celebrations.
In her private time, she enjoys reading, biking, walking, yoga. During the winter months you can find her on the ski slopes with her husband and two sons, Mark and Trevor!
